Description
Big River Steampunk Festival, Hannibal, Missouri, September 2016.I'm learning how to use my new camera so this image is not as sharp as I would like. They also had a stereoscope camera set up and I'm kicking myself for forgetting to get a picture of it.
The following information came from historiccamera.com
The TelePhoto Cycle Poco B was manufactured circa 1891 by the Rochester Camera manufacturing Co. in Rochester, NY. Constructed of solid mahogany wood, dovetailed and highly polished, and covered in the best seal grain black leather, with leather handle. A high quality red Russian leather bellows, cloth lined with a 12 to 24 inch draw based on image size. The metal work is polished and lacquered brass. Double rack and Pinion focus at front and rear, double extension bed. Rising and falling front with swing and removable lens board. A removable spring actuated plate holder. A planatograph lens in auto victor shutter with finger and pneumatic trigger. Two tripod sockets. It was available in multiple sizes including 4 x 5; 5 x 7; 6 1/2 x 8 1/2; and 8 x 10.
There were three people from Dero Cinematography running a booth at the festival. For $50.00 I had a "tintype" taken of my wife and me and her friend. It was interesting to see and learn about the process that it took to create the image. I'll have to scan and post the image here soon. You could also have a camera that would produce tintype stereoscope images, but that would have cost $70 and we don't own a viewer anyway.
