I've talked before about how, in the modern era, it surprises me that "coming out" for LGBTQ+ people is still a big deal. At a time when the general public are more accepting of the LGBTQ+ community, I would think that one wouldn't need to muster up courage in order to openly be who they are. But with the amount of anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric and politics that have come up as of late (because conservatives need a boogeyman to distract from actual issues), I see why it's still something that takes a lot of planning and bravery.I thought I'd draw Sam and Quentin talking about it. Quentin still has not come out as gay to anyone, not even his two dads. The only exception is his boyfriend, Sam. Sam would love to have his relationship with Quentin be more visible. At the same time, he understands that it's a very personal thing for Quentin and that Quentin needs to muster up the courage to be open about his homosexuality. One of the things Quentin's most nervous about is that someone homophobic will discover he's gay and out him as such with malicious intent. Though if that happens, Sam will be there to keep his boyfriend safe.
