Description
Awhile back, I was thinking about the multitude of songs that are used in media for purposes that are counterintuitive to the actual songs. Like people know the title, the hook, or the chorus, and think that's all the song's about. For instance, how many times has Springsteen's "Born in the USA" been used as a patriotic anthem when it's a criticism of America's treatment of veterans? How often has George Michael's "Careless Whisper" been used for romance/sex, even though the song is about being remorseful for cheating? I guess the people in charge of those soundtracks are paid to get the rights to the song, not to listen to it.I thought it would be funny for Broderick to want to have this happen. He'd love for a song that he's written and performed to be used in an ad that is completely counterintuitive to the purpose of the song. Something that lets him know that they like the song, but not enough to actually grasp the meaning of it. Not that he feels it will validate him as a musician or anything like that. It's just going to amuse him.
