Recess is a show I wish I’d watched as a kid. There’s a lot of funny moments that only get better with age, and I really like the characters. Interestingly, I did watch it twice when I was really young, and somehow, it was the same episode, “Big Brother Chad .” It’s hard to forget Vince’s werewolf-like nerd transformation. Still, I checked the show out in high school and found myself really liking it.

I thought Minnie would make a good fit for Recess. Like the kids on the show, she’s pretty serious about having fun and tries to have fun as much as possible. It was rather hard to find a good character to use for reference. No one character looks anything like Minnie, so I went with kind of a mish-mash of the main cast. Pretty much every character is four heads tall, so that seemed like a good starting place. I felt that T.J., being kind of the everyman character, was the best character to go with. I tried to use Gretchen’s dress as a model for Minnie’s, though they’re rather different. Still, it looks like Minnie, and she does look like she’s from the show, so I’m fine with it.
