Description
KELLY’s POV:while show season is off I needed to pick up some work to get money so Ringo has employed me part time to do some training with client horses. This is my first client horse Corpse. Now I’m new around here but when the other girls caught wind that corpse was coming for training they were extatic. Apparently he’s a fan favourite across the world as an upcoming stud and has some pretty impressive lineage. Doesn’t mean much to me but I’ll still take it as an honour to work with this stud.
After some groundwork sessions and getting to know him today was his first real day of training. His owner has requested some cow work be done with him so I grabbed out my roping saddle and tacked up. When I asked for a helper in the roping scute there girls were more than happy to apply themselves 😂 once the cows were all in the arena and in their correct scutes I mounted Corpse and got him into position. I had no idea what he would throw at me here. I nodded to Lily who opened the scute and put shot the calf and up shot Corpse. The loud noise and sudden rush had spooked him but I pushed him forwards and after the calf anyway and once we started moving he calmed down and I was able to rope the calf. Clearly we had some cute work to do. As far as the roping side of it he did well to track the calf and keep a nice distance so instead of just doing roping practice we worked on getting him used to the noise of the cute, then used to the noise and a cow running out. After some time with only a couple set backs he was starting to chill out with it all. Now all was left was to put it together!
We loaded up another calf and this time I sat more forward to kinda signal to him that this time as for real.
The calf shot out and I egged corpse on to chase him. While he was slow out the gate he tracked the calf nicely and I was able to get a nice shot and rope the steer round the horns. Continued in comments-
