This photo reminds me of the "fast-forward" recordings of blooming flowers you sometimes see on TV. You know the ones where the plants grow, start to develop and then pop into flower very quickly, all fast-forwarded into a few second video, often with clouds speeding across the sky telling that a couple of days of recording has been compressed into a short clip.

Well, it's as though this shot captures the exact moment the plants spring into flower. I think that the small DOF and the perspective make it look this way, possibly even the uneven lighting (see comment about clouds). Then again, maybe only I see it this way
