Description
[Update: Added soul hearts to indicate what Frisk's soul looks like in that AU.]As far as I know, all of these are original, or only slightly tweaked from other more popular ideas (Overturn and Sleepytale partially originated from Underfell and Outertale respectively, while Coreswap is... More obvious).
Undertale: Original sprites for comparison's sake with the AU versions.
Overturn: Everyone's personalities are everted, and so are their colors, slightly. Unlike Underfell, even Flowey is still a jerk, but everyone is mostly tolerable despite being 1 or 2 shades darker in personality.
Sleepytale: Monsters were banished to the human subconscious in their dreams, not an underground cave. The Abstraction grants wishes to humans sometimes.
Progenytale: Chara never came up with their plan to commit suicide and be absorbed by Asriel, and eventually came up with Asgore's plan after Toriel and Asgore passed away.
Underhill: Undertale but Silent Hill. Probably never going to be finished because I'd have to make the spritesheet like 3x bigger to accommodate the detail/sheer size of actual Silent Hill monsters.
Tale.exe: Instead of a human/monster war, humans went extinct and robots went to war with monsters, eventually forcing them into an isolated mainframe underground in an abandoned human research lab. The monsters all communicate with the creatures that wander inside the lab using the screens scattered around it.
Baddream: Never going to be finished. It was an AU based on a dream I had where the underground was a landlocked island Chara and Frisk (siblings) shipwrecked on, and the monsters were all trying to kill them. Just cataloging it here so I don't forget.
Realistale: An AU where everything is 'completely realistic' and Frisk is a slightly concussed 10 year old trying to find their way out of a pit full of weird animals and poisonous flowers.
CoreSwap: A version of Underswap where everyone's roles are swapped, but their personalities and handfuls of their traits stay the same. You fight Papyrus, but he relays your flirting to Sans and you go on the date/hang out with Sans, for example. I've also done some personal swapping that isn't in the original/popular Underswap, such as Chara, Frisk, and Asriel swapping with Frisk, Asriel, and Chara respectively, instead of Asriel and Monster Kid. (The name of the AU has nothing to do with The Core, it's a reference to Bogleech's Awful Hospital)
Sporetale: An AU where most of humanity was infested by Cordyceps, and monsters quarantined themselves underground to avoid being infested by the spores as well. They then realized that the mushrooms were harmless to monsters. They only became dangerous to monsters after Alphys injected 'Mushy' with determination while attempting to create infinite determination to replenish the barrier. The determination made the spores magical enough to infect monsters, and now the barrier is no longer enough. A new human soul is needed to purge the spores. Regarding the two souls shown: The one on the left is Frisk's soul encased in their protective suit. The one on the right is Frisk's soul, suitless, after being infested by spores.
Undertale (Green Heart): Another one based on a stupid dream. Woof. Anyway, this one is a hypothetical of what would happen if Frisk relented to living with Toriel. It's set 4 1/2 years in the future, and Frisk has since then lost their pure Determination and defaulted to their next strongest trait, Kindness, because according to dream logic, a red 'Determined' soul is a jack of all trades soul that can fluctuate between the different soul types and use all of their abilities (which seems to be the case in the game, eh?) but if they ever stray from being 'determined' for too long, they lose it forever.
God, this list just keeps getting bigger with every dumb idea I have. Oh well. It's fun.
