She knew she had pushed herself hard over the last half hour. She and Ross had left the car about 2 kilometers from where they presently were. They had made the Overlook but her stump ached more than usual so she taok her leg off. Knowing this might happen, Ross’s backpack not only had wine and a sandwich in it, but also it carried her folding crutches. While they enjoyed the view, the afternoon, the wine, snack and conversation Liz swapped out her leg for the collapsible pair of her real “best friends” in life now.
