Nero soon joined the navy at the age of 18 and quickly rode the ranks up to captain. When he was 19 years old. a War had broke out. He was assigned to the Battle-cruiser Alaska. On broad the ship he meant his role model first officer William J. Smith. He tried everything to be like him and do everything correctly, but in doing this he kinda forgotten what one his friends told him. "Never let anyone change who you are." He would forget that for a good while until he had reached the age of 20. It was the night of promotion as he was excited to see who would get the rank of captain of the ship. Sadly he didn't get it, but for some reason. He didn't get upset about it. He was quite happy on who got the rank, but his remodel William didn't. Later that night he was heading towards his bunk before he heard loud screaming and rushed over. When he arrived he saw the new captain on the floor breathing hard after being attacked by William, He looked around and saw where a waves of ripples was in the water, but no William. He was about to jump in before he then heard shell splashes. Alaska was under attack, but this time. By a battleship. The crew tried to defeat the battleship, but it proved to powerful. Luckily Alaska was a quick ship and ran off in a smoke screen for home base. The bridge on the ship was destroyed, and the new captain was killed in actions. Nero was shocked to hear that he was prompted to captain of the ship. After a few weeks of repairs, Alaska was back at sea with her new captain, a captain everyone liked. But no one knew the dark secrets that Captain Nero held in his mind and in his past.
