Description
" In 1979 physicist Freeman Dyson proposed a method of exploring the Milky way Galaxy by sending into space small self replicating automaton which he aptly named Astrochicken. The Astrochicken's would explore the Galaxy, gathering information and samples which they would eventually return to Earth. In 2112 his dream was realised when The Global Space Agency (The GSA) sent a hundred thousand AC's into space.
In 2012 one came back!.........a hundred years before it was sent! Inside it contained a selection of Alien objects collected from our Galactic neighbours and after months of painstaking work the solid state quantum crystal hard drive was decoded and the AC-006's incredible journey through the Milky Way and beyond was revealed....... "
Created for Leicestershire artworks collection this 'sculpture' is all about tactile and thought provoking art and will be loaned to schools, care homes, universities etc.
It consists of a bespoke box ( the Astrochicken ) and a series of unique hand held artworks ( the alien objects ). Each object is contained inside an egg that rotate on a carousel inside the AC allowing them to be removed via a hatch. The alien objects range from a mummified frog set in clear resin to a wooden pod that makes a sound like a rain stick.
