PHEWW this one took me a while!
The file was apparently too big for Krita too, it lagged a bunch & crashed a few times (even crashing my entire computer in the process once) :'D
So like you've seen in the title, it was for a contest on a forum ! Didn't win, but I love this piece so much I don't mind x)
The flags given to the ring of villagers/NPCs are either headcanons I have, or they're canon (based on their appearance)! HERE ARE THE LINKS FOR THE CANON ONES

& A few more notes: this is what convinced me to headcanon Gracie & Saharah as genderfluid (can't take credit for the idea though, it was a friend on Discord); Isabelle is pan because of this on the wiki; Flick & CJ are partners ; yes Tom Nook is being angry at Redd, I love the bitter exes headcanon. And I SWEAR I had a twitter thread explaining why Nat is trans but I cannot for the life of me find it again!!
For the player characters in the middle, there's me at the top and the others are friends' characters depicted with their flags! (yes i am a demiromantic nb ace lesbian, i kept procrastinating on drawing something to come out on here, oops)

The four items they're holding symbolize a few ways in which ACNH has gotten more progressive: eyelashes no longer being gender-exclusive; villagers using they/them pronouns when talking about visitors; passports not being gender-colored; the ability to change your "style" (and not "gender") whenever you want!
Additional/unorganized notes:
- this took so fucking long i cannot even
- i used three photos of mine (1 /2 /3 ) for texture/background/colors effects
- flick & CJ's shirts are respectively nonbeenary & morgay eel
- i had to search for good/big enough screenshots to use in the middle & even went to get the game's dialogue font
- tried to have as much variety as i could on where to place the flags!
- if you noticed the bluebottle before reading this congrats, it's a little easter egg cause someone's pic of their char was photobombed by one and we joked that it wanted in
- TIL that dA only accepts up to 30 tags (couldn't fit everyone in there lmao)
