Description In late August, when the leaves were living their last bits of green and the early bloomers were beginning to turn auburn, construction for a new house down the road began.
They built rather quickly for contractors, with the frame up by the beginning of October. And by Janurary, right as the snow began to sprinkle down, the house was complete but for it's stain glass windows on the second and third storys.
At the beginning of March, cars began driving to and from the house. A fence was put up, then barbed wire to boot. Flowers were planted on the edge of the property to appeal to the neighbbors, for whatever reasons.
In May, the moving trucks bombarded the road. They carried great huge pieces of furniture, and most of the neighborhood kids would stand outside to watch as they pulled great frames of portraits and large Victorian-era tables from the trucks. Every now and again, a hood figure would stand by the door, smoking a cigarette and yell directions at the hired hands to where each and every item went. The person at the door would never leave the property, and no one had known when they had even arrived at the house. One day, they had just arrived. Like they had lived there their whole life, and that the children were the ones who had just constructed their three story houses in the middle of an already built up middle class neighborhood.
In July of that year, the house had become silent again. No cars left, except at dusk or dawn, where visibility was at it's lowest, and kids were at home eating dinner.
The kids always hung at the edges of the fence to the house. Staring up at the huge fort built over the empty field that once was there. Staring over at the balls and frisbees tossed over the barbed fence. The occasional shoe made it's way over the fence, as a dare to get it's owner over the fence and back, just to tell the others what it felt like on the other side.
Of course, no one ever went after the shoe.
As the summer progressed, the scene at the house faded, and the children slowly gave up on the dream of going over the fence.
Except Phiona, silly little Phiona.
She was nearly ten, the most annoying little ten year old you could have ever imagined. She wore pink dresses everywhere, her hair in three pigtails across her head, and sandal shoes.
That day she had been playing with her Cythnia doll. Her most favorite doll that she had ever gotten that year for her birthday from her older sister, Katrina. Phiona hated that her big sister always had to work, and never had time for tea parties with her anymore. She always had to have her imiganary friends play with her, who always got boring after they ate all the poundcake and left for their naps.
Anyway, that day Phiona had been playing with her Cythnia doll, when a bigger boy from down the road stomped up to her with his thugs behind them. They were passed the ages of catching cooties from girls, and now knew the only joys of basketball and sprinting down the street as fast as their little legs could carry them.
Phiona turned her face up to them and stuck out her tounge at them. Which usually worked to make them leave.
"Hey, it's little Fefe, and look," The biggest of them leaned down and snatched the doll from her hand. He held it for a moment, Phiona not even really aware of what was going on. "It's her little doll too."
"Tell me, Fefe, do you want to be a doctor when you grow up?" The boy smirked, weighting the doll in his hand. "Or what about a ballerina?"
Phiona pouted her eyebrows and clumsliy stood up, but was no match for his height.
"I want my dolly back.."
"How about a--"
"Give me my dolly!" She frowned, but the boy only got louder.
"--rocket scientist!"
And he launched the Cynthia doll far onto the reaches over the fence.

Phiona stood at the edge of the fence for a long time. Her mind wondering how in the world she was going to get the doll back.
She couldn't just leave her best friend trapped over the fence, Cynthia would surely freeze in the summer air. Or worse, a dog could come along and eat her right up!
It took her a while, and some walking around the property before she got her plan.
If she couldn't go over, and she certainly couldn't go under and get her pretty pnk dress dirty, her only option would be to go through.
Through the back door in the fence of course.
She didn't wonder why a house with a stature of it's own had a back door to a fence, nor why it was unlocked, or even why no one else had noticed it until now. She didn't see the three pairs of eyes on the roof, staring down at her intently, and one those pairs through the barrel of a sniper rifle. She just had one thing on her mind, and that was her doll.

"Cynthia!" Phiona called, scolding her doll as she neared closer and closer. She had no regard for anyone who might be inside the house, or the rumors that the other kids had made up for it. Murders, Wolves, angry marsupials whom all lived inside the house. "Don't you ever do that again! Never ever ever!" She scopped up her doll, brushing off some of the dirt from her miniture dress.
"Oh great, you lost a shoe now.." Phioba squinted her eyes towards the ground, trying to look for the itty bitty shoe that could have been anywhere on the property by now.
"Is this it?"
The voice startled her, and Phiona looked up to see the hooded person from earlier in the year who seemed to be in charge of the house. Phiona was speechless to the pure innocent look of the house owner's face. She edged backwards, startled, into another person who was as quiet as her shadow.
Phiona's voice couldn't work, her feet wouldn't move, all she could manage was making her face into what was beginning to be tears. Loud, ten year old tears.
Her face was twisted into purely fear, and this is when all the rumors came back.
They keep scorpians as pets. They eat cow tounge for every meal. They kick puppies.
Everything bad hit her right as the innocent smiling woman infront of her with the deep black sunglasses and scar running down her neck dropped a black bag onto Phiona's head and pulled the drawstrings tight.
