"You didn't say this was going to happen," muttered a short girl with pink hair named Sarah at the guy before her, eyebrows raised. She used to be a boy called Jamie.

"Sorry, but you're the only person I find compatible with. You know what's going to happen if the officers spot us unpartnered?" asked Robert, the guy in front of her that restrained her movement by placing his arms on the stack of lockers behind her.

"I don't know. Disqualify us, maybe?" Sarah guessed, slightly lowering her head and lifting her hand close.

Robert sighed and corrected her, "Much worse. They might murder us. This game is all about life and death, either we win and leave alive or we die a pauper."

"Still, that doesn't explain what just happened to me, yes?" the girl broached the subject again, a bit irritated.

"All right, then, if you want to know further. Remember when we were told to partner up with someone from the opposite sex if interested in joining the next game? As you know, the number of girls in this academy is much lower than the boys'. Since I was fairly late to the party, I was unable to find myself a matching partner. Talk about stock dearth."

"But, I wanted to quit in the last round. The game itself is already putting too much weight on my head, and you dragged me back in and also turned me into a girl without my consent," Sarah complained again, but she felt powerless to fight back now as her muscles were not as strong.

"It was my subconscious, really. I was just afraid of getting punished," Robert tried to defend himself, but his guilty facial expressions could not lie.

"It's fine. It's already in the past. I've always wondered about how it feels to live as a girl anyway. We can do nothing but try to win the next game," Sarah mumbled voicing her heart, embarrassed all of a sudden. "I'd appreciate it if you have a reversal spell in hand, though, because it's starting to feel weird not having that thing down there."

Robert chuckled and responded while abducting both his arms, "Don't worry about that. We can discuss that later once we finish this game. Let's focus on winning first for now, yeah?"

Sarah and Robert sauntered down the hallway side-by-side as if they were a couple. They used to be best friends before and thus were nonchalant about it. Robert was trying to act cool with the beautiful girl standing beside him to maintain the reliability of their disguise. It was just a matter of time whether this relationship would shatter, remain the same, or progress to a more affectionate level.
