Amongst Other Things follows the life of Chris Randolph, an energetic but kind of lazy guy who has been free-loading off of his long-time friend, the wall-flower Scott Knight and his roommate, the irritable Phil Lee. However, when he receives an inheritance letter in the mail from his deceased grandfather, he becomes the owner of an old mansion in Filigree Estates, all expense paid. The only problem? It's already inhabited.
