You’re not a monster, little guy” Amethyst said gently, taking a cautious step towards the strange bird-lizard creature. The helpless little thing had barely even emerged from its egg. It gave a tiny pitiful squawk as it ruffled it’s barely formed feathers at Amethyst. The tiny creature was an ugly beast; it’s body and head was of a chicken with smoothy grafted into the long tail of a lizard. Covered in both dull grey-green feathers and scales, it appeared to be terrifying enough, but no- the small creature could breathe fire and excrete a foul-smelling black substance though it’s skin. “ I can’t lie to ya, little fella, you’re uglier than sin itself, but you’re no monster.” Amethyst took another cautious step forward, so close she could reach out and touch the pitiful beast. It gave a small purr and seemed to calm down a bit at her touch, “ I’m not a monster either, no matter what they say.” We have monsters inside us, you and I. “ She said gently, “ Anger. Fear. Hatred. They make us do ugly, unforgivable things. “ Amethyst gently stroked the beasts head gently until it settled down, “ But… there’s good in us too even if we look like the bad guys.” The strange little bird-lizard ruffled its feathers and gave a squawk in agreement, inadvertently sending a shower of sparks into the air. The tattooed young woman gave a warm laugh,” Heck, ya are kinda cute in your own little way, little fella.”
