I find the subject very boring, and much too realistic for my taste, but you obviously have plenty of experience and skill. Try some imagination some time, though. C;

She says, with a gallery filled with shitty drawn fakemons that any toddler could think up. There is concept within this painting and beauty in the portrayal of everyday objects, not to mention the sheer artistry of just the skill themselves, I suggest you read a few books about art before you attempt critiquing anybody.

Also, please, by all means copy yourself a photograph on a canvas this size using oils. Come on, it doesn't take much skill, after all.

Wow, someone needs come counselling. Are you serious with this reply? She wasn't being insulting but you seriously are, you entitled shit. She recognized the artist's skills and experience, you fuck. She was just suggesting different subject material. Your gallery of completely unoriginal MLP art and badly manipulated sketches is not exactly captivating either. Back off.

Do you really care about my opinion of your ignorance? Because I would need to write a dissertation to explain it to you.

So not worth my time. You jumped to ridiculous conclusions about a comment on a piece of art that is open to interpretation from anyone who views it. You reacted with insult and stupidity. It was her opinion, and she doesn't need her opinion validated by anyone, especially you. Your total lack of constructive thought and empathy is pathetic. Wasting my time explaining to you how you're an asshole is not going to help you because you feel entitled to be an asshole.

Thank you for taking time out of your day to look at my gallery! I always appreciate the views. < 3
Those are hybrids, not fakemon. So they're definitely not too different from the parent pokemon. C;

And of course it takes tremendous skill! I never said it doesn't. I'd just love to see something more imaginative by this artist. C:

SAVALISTE In reply to whispen [2014-03-19 04:12:16 +0000 UTC]

it's not about imagination. It's about his talent in intricate details of everyday objects that most people don't think to try. The crinkles in the plastic, the shining off the plastic, the wetness pressed against the bag from the grapes and so much more. It's lovely to see everyday objects when all you see now a days are drawings of ponies or aliens and robots.

I agree the ponies are annoying, haha.
But I also don't think it takes as much skill to copy a photograph as it does to come up with something new. C:

SAVALISTE In reply to whispen [2014-03-19 04:20:40 +0000 UTC]

HAHA yea I don't get the pony stuff

But who says this artist copied a photograph? He more than likely had created this set up in his home or work place and sat there studying every detail from lighting and the different colors on each grape and took his time with it. To me that's harder because you can't forget any details if you are to get it right as it is as opposed to just making something from imagination.. that would be okay if you forgot something cause your audience wouldn't know you did it's all difficult if we aren't talented anyway

I get what he's saying.. this painter has some mad skills, but a more interesting subject matter would REALLY make their talents shine even more! absolutely!

I have to agree with everyone else. I thought "it's a bag full of grapes... um ok?" Then I read it was an oil painting and my expression on my face changed completely.

probably should say something productive.  Aside from the shear realism that you've achieved, i love the composition, especially the stem sticking out of the bag.

like everyone else types, superlative hyper-realism. especially given the subject matter. the large size makes it easier, but it's  not as if you're picking a subject that istvan sandorfi would. makes me wanna try something on this level, even though i know i'd simply get exasperated.
