Description
This was a commission of Dustin Archibald's WereWolf Hunters with the characters, Vela, Tommy, and Kain. Dustin is an amazing comic creator. Check his page out here: [link]I did this piece with color in mind,..I've seen the likes of colorist We Dzioba totally create wicked cool effects with the moon and very eerie pallets. As you can see with the space up top, space was left for a title as this is supposed to be a cover. I really enjoyed working on this one. Note the dead "lower" caste werewolves down below.

An absolutely beautiful picture! The shading/inking looks terrific; truly masterfully done. Everything about it is just plain awesome: The mist in the background, the details in the back such as the cemetery and the skyscrapers (I do believe those are the skyscrapers of a city, right?) -- and, of course, the werewolves. I love werewolves. In short, bravo!

Wow, thanks. And yes, barely on the horizon are teeny weeny buildings. I would have omitted them, but the writer(Dustin) wanted specific elements in there, so I did my best. And THANK YOU again for your generosity, in your words and other wise. Say, don't I owe you a piece?

Thanks Elmer. Btw-you're good enough to be whatever you want in this business. Just push it man. Push hard to get better. I know you want to get it done and do another but take your time, absorb the work and try to refine and innovate with each piece. I see you're doing it, that's all I ever wanted to see. You can draw cartoony but you have to master the nuances of anatomy first. Look hard and chip away at the husk until it's perfected one page at a time. Don't ever put that pencil down. Less talented people than you aren't. (Just something I always wanted to tell you,...pay attention to the part where the pec meets the bicep-especially on the first page of El Valiente #1.)

Hey man, thanks for the pep talk. Yeah, I was so concerned with having product-to have at least something out there-that I stressed myself out. That's why I'm taking some time to regroup and work on some other issues. Don't worry about me "giving up on the lead" though...as you can see from the recent posts, I'm still doodling away in my sketchbook and making little tweaks here and there.

Well, the stuff looks great. I think only corporations need concern themselves with "product". Some things are worth waiting for and if you doing what you need to do is going to have you return better then go for it. We might not all see eye to eye but in the end there's only yourself, the art in front of you and whether or not it makes you happy.
