Ah yes, Crazy Foam guy (or Frothers) is back! One more silly idea that popped into my head. Just bringing his fanboy powers towards the Avatar to new heights!Crazy Foam guy is the only original Avatar character appearing ( belongs to Nickelodeon...I never credited them before, sorry!). The rest are extras I made for this tidbit of a story.
Pen and ink, more or less quick coloring in Photoshop (it always take longer than I think, augh!)

I wish I had seen the panel at the NY anime festival. Yup, I used to do storyboards for the show. My work there is done though, and for many of the other artists.

Thats so cool. i've always wanted to be a storyboard artist or an illustrator or something with art but my parents dont think it brings in enough money to make a living..

I would beg to differ on the money part- it is quite decent. Not lawyer or doctor level, but still. What is harder to do is to break through in the business. Jobs can be a bit temporary too, but they are out there. And drawing is more than just one or two jobs: character designer, background artists, storyboards, concept artist (this works for animation, feature films and video game industries). Illustrators and comic book artists can do book covers, illustrations for famous magazines, comic books. Let's not forget fashion, if you're so inclined.
Plenty of possibilities. Maybe your parents need to see that you would have many doors open.

thats good to know. can i ask how you started out . cuz i'm not sure if i can do any other kind of job i only have drive for drawing. i mean, i'm in college and i promised i'd focus and stop sketching and doodling during class but i end up doing it anyway cuz i just can't help it. it would be real helpful to kno how to get into and break through the business

It'S good to have proper training- school first. Many colleges offer good art programs. Afterwards, it's good to be versatile drawing wise. Not only being able to adapt to different styles, but being able to draw many things, like people, objects, backgrounds. You don't have to be an expert on everything mind you, just being able to handle as much as possible since you never know what will be thrown your way.
As for breaking through the business, it may not be easy. You'll need to establish contacts, show your work around, and have a lot of persistence.
It can be done.
