Death Battle (Star Wars/Warcraft)

• ⁠Once ordinary young boys who lived relatively normal lives and worked in more a "mediocre" or modest environments (Anakin being born a slave - the lowest level of society working at Toydarian Watto's shop and Arthas being a noble boy of one of the most powerful kingdoms within the Alliance, on the highest level of society who spent much of his time working with the common people, even in things like stables)

• ⁠Their lives would change when they're introduced to a member of a powerful peacekeeping order; an order of knight-like warriors who use a deeply spiritual energy to defend the weak against it's darker counterpart (Qui Gon Jinn and Uther the Lightbringer)

• ⁠They would soon go on to become one of the most gifted and talented warriors of their respective eras under the guidance and training of their of their mentors whom they had become close friends and sworn brothers with (Obi-Wan Kenobi for Anakin and Uther for Arthas)

• ⁠Although regarded as one of the greatest warriors of their time, they were seen as brash and impulsive individuals who often broke the rules of their respective orders (The Jedi Order and The Knights of the Silver Hand)

• ⁠Both would meet the woman of their life whom they fell in love with and had a forbidden romance with them (Padme Amidala, the Monarch of Naboo for Anakin and Jaina Proudmoore, the princess of Kul'Tiras for Arthas)

• ⁠Both would become knightly defenders who were beloved by all and sworn to protect the world from all sorts of threats and conflicts, but unbeknownst to them however was the fact that these same threats and conflicts were all, but orchestrated behind the scenes a dark lord (Emperor Palpatine and Ner'Zhul)

• ⁠They would both battle against these forces of evil, however over time they both would sadly start succumbing to darkness after years of being jaded by war, tragedy and betrayals (Anakin being manipulated then tempted the dark side by Emperor Palpatine, posing as the Chancellor and Arthas slowly started to grow more fragile & broken by his duty as well as the weight of it)

• ⁠Both at first sought to use their newfound powers of "evil" for a noble cause and protect
everything that they hold dear from impending doom (Anakin trying to learn the Dark Side of the Force to save Padme & keep her safe and Arthas trying to save his people & his family from the plague ravaging his kingdom)

• ⁠Despite their original intentions of using their dark powers for "good" intentions, they fall further into darkness and committed many evil atrocities (Anakin's massacring many Jedi during Order 66 as well as those who fail to comply with Palpatine's rule and Arthas's massacre of many innocent people including his own father)

• ⁠Soon both would come face to face in a tragic duel with their former mentors and once sworn brothers who comes to confront and stop them which would soon end in their deaths (Anakin's duel with Obi-Wan and Arthas's duel with Uther)

• ⁠For decades they would conquer all worlds and strike fear into the hearts who of those dared to oppose them, but they where eventually defeated through the being/power that corrupted them in the first place and it was only then did they find peace before dying in the arms of their beloved family member (Darth Vader being killed by Emperor Palpatine's Force Lightning after sacrificing himself to protect his son - Luke Skywalker and the Lich King being killed by the souls within Frostmourne after it shattered leading him to die peacefully in his father - Terenas Menethil's arms)

• ⁠Both wear an iconic suit of armor and helmet which adds to their intimidating and imposing figure

• ⁠Both are incredibly powerful and fearsome magical warriors who are masters in the dark mystical arts and various forms of direct combat where they wield a dangerous sword as their primary weapon of choice (Lightsaber and Frostmourne)

Contrast:

Darth Vader died as a "redeemed" man so to speak, someone who saw the error of his ways and died a hero, saving the galaxy from Palpatine becoming Anakin Skywalker once more thanks to the love and compassion of his son - Luke.

Arthas meanwhile was killed because he couldn't be brought him back, he was too far gone and he died as the same monster he became. No redemption arc. However, after his death, there was discoveries that there was still glimpses of the old Arthas's humanity lying within his cold dark heart as even after his turn into the Lich King as he kept a locket with Jaina's picture in it in remembrance of how much he cherished her.
