In 1996, after Cave Johnson purchased the A-Sync Research Institute and renamed the company Aperture-Sync, the rivalry with Black Mesa reached a new level. Both companies tried to go big with teleportation. During the research, it was revealed that there is a huge number of parallel dimensions that intersect with our world. A theory has emerged that they are all nothing more than layers of the primordial universe or the “Center of the Worlds.” Ultimately, both companies decided to make a deal that they would make every possible effort and means to open the “Center of the Worlds” in order to learn the secrets of existence and be the first to bring humanity to a new stage of development. The project was called "PROSPERO".
