A piece of the promo art for Upperdecks Marvel VS series.Cyclops is actually one of my two favorite marvel characters. That eye of death of his always seems under powered to me, but it's an interesting ability and his character always seems to be in torment from "everybody and their dog" making some time with his woman.
A lot of people back in the day (when I followed X-men that is) wanted to see Cyclops killed off since he was portrayed as such a boy scout, but it would have been a bad idea to do so simply because if you have a bunch of rebels like Wolverine dominating the story they begin to seem less interesting.

Yes! Another rare fan of Cyclops. Very nice drawing too! Some people think he's lame cause he's not crazy awesome and psycho like the rest of the X cast, but just as you said, they need someone thinking straight on the team.

it's too bad they had to kill him off in the movies. He was totally whiny in those and could have been much better, but at least James Marsden did well when he played him.

Nothing wrong with a character being a boyscout. They're supposed to be HEROES, afterall. I mean, think of all the trouble we'd be in if Superman had Wolverine's attitude?

Cyclops is one of my top three in Mravel and he always get such a bum rap! He's awsome and he's the "nice guy" to Wolverine's "bad boy" which I think alot of people can relate to. He's being written really well in Astonishing X-men thanks to Joss Whedon though and I'm glad for that. And yeah, the only pre-requisite for scoring with Jean was that a guy is a mutant. I dig that Scott hooked up with Emma though. She's awsome!

I have no idea what they've been doing with cyclops recently because I haven't followed Marvel Comics since slightly before Jean's death (when Marvel began their uber-tragedy madness era,) but I have to say that Cyclops is probably one of my favorite X-Men, just BECAUSE he's a boy scout. He didn't whine back in the Chris Clairemont days. He was a top-knotch strategist and military leader of the sort that characters like Wolverine just couldn't be, and his reasonably-limited power made his usefulness as a team organiser that much more marked, as opposed to Storm or Nightcrawler, who I can picture being more useful in the front lines...
But the limits of Scott's power drive him to improve in other ways, because he has something he really believes in and is willing to stake his life on those beliefs. I would have to say, Scott Summers is my eighth favorite marvel character, after Spider-man, the Human Torch, the Invisible Woman, Reed Richards, the Thing, Captain America and the Silver Surfer, in order from least to most.

I Could Not possibly agree more with what you said. Scott Summers rules and he keeps Xaviers dream alive.
He was voted The Number One X-Man by IGN i believe.
Not that it matters but I can't stand Wolverine.

Cyclops was cool, i specially liked him in his Marvel vs Capcom appereances, he was THAT powerful there.
But on the other side, i read he's a whimp in the recent comics, one more reason to like the old school way better.

I always dug how they developed the relationship with his brother. Both of them had phenominal power that had to constantly be monitered which placed a heavy burden on both. You had Alex who was always trying to follow in Scott's foot steps, but still had a far more destructive side. Amazing work you've done here, your ability to render shades and tones has made you one of my favorite artists! Not to mention the great line work!

If he's not crying over Jean's death, he's either having arguements with Logan or cheating on Jean with Emma. I still consider him a Cap America wannabe who needs to just exit the X-Men (I liked it better when Storm led them anyway)
