It was a rest day for them both, but even though Amara was tired after the group's visit to the museum and spending the day on the town, the first thing she did after arriving back at the villa was to go to the stables to visit Belle. The mare was greeting her happily now, and had settled in pretty nicely at this point. She was always happy for a cuddle and a treat, and honestly Amara was glad that she was such a cuddler. While she was incredibly happy here (truth be told, in some ways she didn't want to go back home to face the long, cold, Montana winter), she was getting a bit homesick. She called and talked to Sam every day, usually a couple of times per day, but in the five years they had been together, four of those living together, she had never gone this long being away from him. While the horse was obviously no replacement for her boyfriend, she was a sweet, warm, and loving thing that made her feel safe and loved in return.

Brushing/bathing (bottom left)

While Belle hadn't been the biggest fan of the hose coming near her head and upper neck, she had been incredibly good for her bath. She leaned into the scrubbing as Amara scrubbed her white legs with purple shampoo. They still had a bit more than a week before the show, but with how dirty Belle had been when she first arrived, it would take a few baths to get her as sparking as Amara was hoping for. She had been working hard to make sure to expose the mare to as many things as possible, that she could safely do. She never thought twice as she left her standing tied under the dryers while she did a full clean of her stall. When she returned, Amara was floored. Apparently "wavy" was an understatement when describing her mane and tail. She carefully brushed her feathering out then wrapped them, hoping to flatten them out a bit. Then, she took the mare outside and began to brush her mane and tail. It seemed to smooth it a bit, but it was now a fluffy black mass of smoothly interlocked curls and frizz. She pulled out her phone and snapped a picture to Sam. Yes, she was gleaming and clean, but Amara had really learned her lesson about using the dryers (unless she had her mane braided already).

Amara was thrilled to pose for the camera when Lacey offered to snap a picture of them at the end of their first ride. It had gone so well. Obviously, they still had a long way to go, but they had managed a nice walk, turns in both directions, as well as a rein back with minimal issues. Amara even felt comfortable enough to take Belle on a short trot around the outdoor arena. Belle seemed to love working so far, always listening and trying her best to do anything she asked of her.

~Italian Experience~

While she was enjoying every moment of her time in Italy so far, Amara would always be what she referred to as "an adventurous introvert". She needed some time to herself, so she went into town, got a train ticket, and traveled to a nearby town for some solo exploring. She got espresso at a tiny cafe, where she ended up meeting a fellow traveler: a young woman who had traveled there to visit her grandparents. The pair really hit it off, finding they had a lot in common. She showed her around the small town, and invited her back to eat with her family before heading back to the villa. Amara made sure to take several pictures, and was thrilled when her new friend sent her a few candid shots she had also gotten during the day.
