Awesome features! The grouping or folder stuff, like in Android lauchers, getting rid of icon borders, bright/dimmed/boxed icons to show active,inactive/current apps, everything about your concept design is cool. You should definitely contact the Ayatana Project design team on Launchpad.
Unity should allow theming the Launcher and Dash, so that we can change Launcher assets, Dash scopes and lens icons. Speaking of icons, Ubuntu 14.04LTS will have the new Ubuntu Touch icons and launcher assets which looks similar to this mockup. Maybe ,the Unity design team have traded theming support for more speed and stability. But, I wish there was some unofficial fanmade Unity laucher assets available to mod the Laucher and Dash, so that i can make my Ubuntu 12.04 Unity look like Ubuntu 13.10 Unity 7, Ubuntu Touch, or even Win 8( just kidding). Looks like Unity needs something like Tune Up themer for Windows which could change many unsupported theme, icon, bootscreen elements in a hackish/modder way.

Man that's beautiful. You should try submitting the design as an idea for implementation!

Are you put it on Ubuntu or now this is just a design ? If it isn't in 13.04 PLEASE surly put it on 13.10 (The next Linux). REALLY THAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANKS

Great job, however I think I would find the "scrolling box" to show focused application a bit too distracting. No box would be just as good in terms of usability. I'm guessing the user always knows what program is focused.

Some of those things are easily doable by editing pictures in /usr/share/unity or at least I think so... Maybe I'll give it a try tomorrow...

do you actually mean to have the dash integrated like that with the panel? 'cause if so I vote yes! also I really dig the clean icons without that shiny container. Also to note that an app should get away from the group folder when clicked, not holding my breath for right clicking since they've made a point of using it as least as possible.

Your design was really enthusiastically welcomed on the forum Ubuntu-fr. It was said there you should put it on Launchpad, perhaps official developers of Unity would find it interesting too! [link]
