Description
Just finished Startropics for the first time on the VC. What a great game! and a nice little ending too. Too bad there will never be a next gen sequel.Related content

Amazing job! I love all the details big and small in your drawing. It's great to see some Star Tropics fan art here on the site

There actually was a startropics 2 that wasn't all that widely distributed.
The emulator sites have it. I played it and it was fun, but not as good as the first game.
The first one remains one of ny favorite NES games ever!

I finally finished and beaten StarTropics for the first time on the Wii's VC less than a month ago, and StarTropics is easily one of the greatest NES games I never played back in the late 80's!
Chapters 1-3 were just amazing especially, however I wasn't too thrilled with chapter 7 and 8 which take place on Zoda's ship. Since they ditched the clever tile puzzle gameplay, in favour of just killing enemies and powering up your weapon. Plus the design choice was ugly when compared to the beautiful lush tropical island based on the previous stages.
God I love this game!

I missed out on this gem in my youth, but I always heard good things about it, and how the game is simular to Zelda, (and watched a good review of the game by the "Happy Video Game Nerd" on Youtube) so I bought & downloaded it from the Wii Shop Channel.
At first, I got a li'l annoyed by the game's slower pace, and the stiff tile-by-tile movement, (though, looking back it does enable you to face an enemy, without accidently moving into them if you just quickly tap a direction) not to mention some of the mazes, but I'm glad I stuck with the game, because as it goes on, it becomes a really good, and challenging/rewarding game.
Nice fanart of it. You really recaptured the look of the game nicely. Nice details to.
Geeky fact:
This was actually one of the first Nintendo-developed games with a USA-release spacifically in mind. (In fact, the game oddly never has been released in Japan, or planned to be, regardless of being developed by Japanese people.)
It's evident Nintendo wanted this game to appeal to Americans with some of the cultural references in the game.
(Including a nice 8-bit NES rendition of "My Country, 'Tis of Thee.")

If Calista recommends someone, they must be good. And how right she was! What a Fantastic level of detail! The rocks of the island, the metal of the sub (modelled on thunderbird four?), the walls of the observatory, the trunks of the palms, everything! *impressed*

Yeah, it is a fantastic game. I hope Nintendo does get around to making a new StarTropics someday.

Awesome! "IHASBANANASINMAHEARSLULZ" This is really beautifully rendered...so much detail, I love how you have shaded the rocks and the textures in the grass and trees. The sea looks awesome too, this is beautifully drawn! Long live MS Paint! And you draw it with a mouse?! Kudos to you! That's one sexy submarine too! All the details O_o @_@ Keep up the awesome work! ^____^
