Description Here's an early Christmas present to my DeviantArt watchers & fellow Frieza fans!
Huzzah, we now have girls. Download for full view, please.
First, please note that the models used here are just that: generic models. They're not O.C.s, they're not re-colors (technically), they're just meant to demonstrate the main types of species coloration found among Arcosians (I even tried to scientifically explain the drastic differences between some individuals' coloration!). Second, these are just the females - the male sheet is here.

I would like to personally thank many people for inspiring me to keep up this project, & for helping me speculate & form my theories. So, here's the short list of TOTALLY AWESOME people without whom I would not be able to exceed my own limits:

These are just the people who have sent me notes on DeviantArt, so if I haven't listed you, know that I am saying "thank you" to you as well.

If you have any questions about my designs, or would like to use this basic character design, please feel free to Note me! If you utilize this design in making O.C.s, writing a character in a story, etc., I only ask that you link back to my DeviantArt, & link me to your creation.

Now, for the next installment of this series, I would like my Watchers & DeviantArt friends to suggest to me what to draw next. Will it be:

Female Reference Sheet? DONE!

Ages & Development From Birth to Death? (5 votes so far)

Overview of the Planet Arcos? (3 votes so far)

History & Mythology? (3 votes so far)

Language & Etiquette? (3 votes so far)

Yup - in essence, you are correct. Like I said before, broadswords & rapiers. If you attack someone while wielding a heavy broadsword, you're likely to kill them in one blow - if you can hit them. Fight too long though, & that heavy sword will take its toll on your stamina. With a rapier, you can thrust & parry all day - but you'd have to either kill your opponent with a thousand cuts, or strike a decisive mortal blow.

Ever considered of drawing a female arcosian avatar of your avatar you use on DBM?

or maybe a self drawing on how you would look if you looked like a real life arcosian female?

Yes & yes. ≛ᴗ≛

I've got a backlog of work though, so that idea is on the back burner for now. Eventually, it'll be posted.

I been hearing you been writing a fanfiction about frieza and the Arcosian race kinda curious do you have a link for the story yet or is it mostly still on paper?

Part of what I'm writing has been incorporated into Honor Trip, as far as world-building & other related ideas I have about Arcosians. I'll be releasing a special chapter on Jan. 27th, so be on the lookout for that on here & on FF.net.

Other than that, I have another entire, coherent fanfiction about Frieza in my head that has yet to be released. I was hoping to start writing it out in December, but got caught up in the Honor Trip special chapter instead. Don't worry though, I'll get to it soon enough.

In all due honesty, I really want to see their etiquette and language. No theories on it yet from me, other than it having a vague resemblance to possibly Tagalog or even Arabic.

Okey doke, we have 1 vote for Language & Etiquette. I have to admit, the language bit will probably be the hardest part of world-building for me, even though I like languages. Learning one is one thing, creating it is another.

Yes, yes, YES! So many people forget this when world-building for an alien species. Lucky for me, Arcosians appear to have roughly the same speech capabilities as humans due to their bone, cartilage, etc. being similar structures. Another related thing that I think many people overlook is heart rate. Different species, even here on Earth, have different heartbeats. Some are much, much slower than a human's, while others are very rapid in comparison. Now, how is this relevant? Well, language (& music, by proxy) are related to the FOXP2 gene in humans & other animals (Source: [link] ). Music theory is in some specific ways almost universal: a slower beat (in relation to a human's heartbeat) is perceived as sad or relaxing, while faster tempos are associated with energy & positive emotions. In short: heartbeats are important baselines for how beings perceive things. I'm not sure if it's totally relevant, or if I'll find a use for this bit of knowledge, but I figured I'd mention it. My mind is full to bursting with stuff like this.

Kazekiri In reply to RyunoOhi [2013-01-09 23:30:50 +0000 UTC]

I would think that, since Arcosians are reptile-like/ synapsids, perhaps they have slower heartrates than humans over and, by that logic, tend to have much slower music. Nut sure what instruments would be preferred, I almost want to say strings would be their primary classification. That or else woodwinds.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

RyunoOhi In reply to Kazekiri [2013-01-09 23:39:16 +0000 UTC]

I won't even pretend to be musical; I can neither play anything nor can I carry a tune in a bucket. I really enjoy music, though. You're correct on the slower heart-rates, though.

Then again, it depends on how sensitive their ears are. A high note on a violin (or their equivalent) or a flute, is merely unpleasant to our ears, but to them it could be like a dog-whistle for all I know. Perhaps brassy instruments?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

RyunoOhi In reply to Kazekiri [2013-01-10 00:31:23 +0000 UTC]

I haven't given much thought to what frequencies they can hear, or what sounds, if any, would be discordant to them. Mostly because I haven't seen any research on anything of that nature. If you have anything, please, do share your knowledge. I have no idea how good most reptiles' hearing is. I do know that a lot of species see in color comparable to our vision.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kazekiri In reply to RyunoOhi [2013-01-10 00:44:40 +0000 UTC]

It would depend on which reptile we're comparing them to. If we're comparing them to crocodiles and turtles, they could hear between 50-1,500 Hz. Tuatara can hear 100-800 Hz, and iguanas can hear between 500-4,000Hz. Average human hearing is in the range of 20-20,000 Hz.

One discrepancy, isn't shown that Arcosian blood is purple? Otherwise fantastic!

On a side note, what'd be the point of purple blood? How would an organism benefit having both haemoglobin and Haemocyanin?

Doesn't stray far from how the males look. The lack of breasts was kind of a surprise to me, but it makes sense considering they seem similar to reptiles.

I've been struggling to design Frieza's mother for my story, and seeing this has been pretty educating.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

RyunoOhi In reply to ArcaneHurricane [2012-12-24 19:19:42 +0000 UTC]

Well, there are differences, but they are rather subtle...I didn't want them to look like a different species entirely, though some animals are like that.

They're actually somewhat closer to reptile-like synapsids than reptiles, so while they don't have mammary glands, they display a lot of other features & behavior we tend to associate with mammals, such as nurturing their young, living in social/family groups, etc.

I'm glad this has been inspirational to you. Can't wait to see your story!

My story has been out for a while now. Here's a [link] to it if you're interested.

But my story has yet to delve into Frieza's family. That's something I have planned for an upcoming arc though. I'm also really interested in seeing you're Frieza redemption story be involved with the DBM2 project. I'd love to see your Frieza interact with a certain character I plan to introduce pretty soon. (I'd also love your opinion on said character's backstory and design eventually as well)

Aaaagh, I have so many fanfics to catch up on, including yours. I wish I could promise I'll read it soon-ish, but...but...I'm training Pokemon. I got Black 2 & White 2 for Christmas, so I'm not going to be productive until I beat the Elite Four, at least.

If you'd like to send me a Note & throw around some ideas for your character & some of my theories on Arcosians, please go ahead. I'm always happy to give other artists/writers inspiration in this department.

Blue-Uncia [2012-12-24 09:57:01 +0000 UTC]

It's a pretty interesting read, thanks for uploading!

I have a question about your albinos, though. In DBZ Frieza's blood was more purple (sometimes it was pansy purple, and sometimes it was even red-violet, [link] / [link] << these have great shade references), instead of pure red. Wouldn't that mean those patches on albinos are purplish, instead of red?

By the way, I love that you kept your females breast-free. So many people like to draw them with huge headlights for no reason. XD

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

RyunoOhi In reply to Blue-Uncia [2012-12-24 20:07:52 +0000 UTC]

Ah, the ongoing blood-color debate. Unfortunately, Toriyama & his animation team weren't wholly consistent, especially with the non-human species. Piccolo had red blood in the beginning of the Saiyan saga, & Cell's blood switches between purple & green. In most official art though, Frieza's blood seems to be red, so I decided to go with that for consistency.

Yes, my Arcosian ladies are curvy where appropriate, but I did not slap gag boobs on them & say, "duurrr, itz a guuurl". That would be silly, & liable to make any respectable biologist cry. I like my fan-characters plausible.

I'm really loving the design for the "recessive gene" Arcosians. I mean the Albinos are cool themselves but I'm really digging the sort of weathered look the recessive gene arcosians have. It's sort of like tiger stripes too but the whole fishing thing has got me leaning more towards the weathered thing.

Also, I've been talking with Captain Space, the author of Break Through the Limit, about some of my thoughts and theories about Dragon Ball. I figured you'd be busy with Honor Trip stuff so I didn't wanna bother you but if you want a peek at what I'm thinking about I'd love to start talking with ya again! I'm finally getting some time to myself again so I'd definitely like that. Lots of holiday stuff, birthday stuff and convention stuff going on the past few months. Keeping up with my girlfriend and her shenanigans is also a chore at times. XD I'm lucky I had any time to talk about ANYTHING Dragon Ball related.
