I'm not going to be talking about the comic itself. Instead I'm going to discuss the events that happened on October 28th and why my involvement with the events has made me remorseful to making this comic.
First of all I do apologize if I'm late towards addressing this, I'm only *now* being filled in on what happened and why it was a problem. Plus the week leading up to Halloween was quite eventful for me.
On October 28th a fan event was held on Twitter for fans of the Charlie x Alastor ship to post their fanart to the hashtags; #HazbinHotel and #charlastor Seeing that my new art senpai was participating, and I though this pairing was very cute, I threw this comic into the ring. Completely ignorant that this event crossed paths with HH's one year anniversary, AND Viv's birthday. That "Happy One Year Anniversary" was added last minute btw. I also drew this and posted it on the day of the event. Anyway, things went wrong... Very VERY wrong....
Viv was getting spammed with this ship and had to mute the tags, which shippers were not pleased with, and it was all downhill from there. I had to report a charlastor fan account that was posing as a chaggie account which was spamming guro and art of Charlie murdering Vaggie in the Chaggie tag, which really distressed me. Soon fans were harassing's other fans it just all became a shit show...
I just wanna say, that I don't regret drawing this comic. I just wanted to make something cute and wholesome. Charlie and Alastor have a good dynamic, but I can respect that Charile is already in a loving relationship, and Al is married to violence and murder. And this ship is definitely not something I'm going to drop everything for and dedicate a plethora of art to *coughcough* Chelly *cough* A LOT of my OTPs are not cannon and have no chance of sailing, and I'm fine with that. I can stay on a non cannon ship if there's a positive warm community to interact with.
And here's where my problems lies. A lot of people this weekend showed their toxic colors. It was not a coincidence that this fan event laid on the same day as the pilot's anniversary. Some people, myself included, thought this was gonna be a small, and was our way of showing love to HH. But for some people that wasn't the case, using this day to harass people with their ship. Which is why I regret doing this. I feel like I added fuel to the fire. And for that, I'm really sorry for my ignorance.
Until now, the Charlie x Alastor fans I've come across seemed super chill and accepting this ship was never going to be cannon. I guess all it took was for something like this for the bad apples to really make themselves known.
