Description
UPDATE - 01/31/19:- Fixed an issue with inverted normal maps.
UPDATE - 01/26/18:
- Now includes effect files that activate normal/bump mapping for the models. See the included help file for information on how to apply the effects.
- Mario is now compatible with dance motions.Β
- It's also possible to remove his hat, now.Β
- Fire and Ice Mario have been made separate models and Metal Mario has been removed in favor of Flying Mario from Super Mario Galaxy.
This world-famous hero needs no introduction! Mario is fully rigged and compatible with motion and pose data. He has several facial morphs as well as a removable hat. Shadow Mario and some alternate outfits for Mario are also included.
This model comes with .fx files that can be used with MME to activate normal mapping on the model, as shown above. For more information, please see the included help file found in the model's folder.
These models are only for use with MikuMikuDance (MMD).
The original model was was ripped from Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash by Random Talking Bush. I did the conversion work for the MMD version.
Super Mario and all related characters, settings, objects, etc. belong to Nintendo.
The download can be found on the right under "Add to Favorites" while using a web browser. You may not be able to see the download link while using the DeviantArt mobile app.
Is there a model you really want me to make? Then consider commissioning me to have it made. Just send me a note for details.
Thank you and enjoy!

I actually plan to update this model with Mario's model from Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash. It'll have the ability to remove his hat. I also plan to do this with Luigi and Waluigi.

These models only work for MikuMikuDance, but it might be possible to port them to Gmod, though I can't do it myself.

Does Mario in the Wii U Mario and Sonic games also have hair? It would be nice if there was a morph for taking his hat off and showing his hair

I could use his model from Mario Tennis Ultra Smash. It would be a nice upgrade overall.

I tried to rig this model for dance purposes, but when I tested it out with a motion file, his legs won't move. They just stay in the center.

Most of my models don't really work with pre-made dance animations unless I mention otherwise.

Oh, ok. Also, the rig edit I made only has the upper body working. (The head, face, hands, eyes, etc.) The bottom portion is not working when I re-rigged it. It just... hovers. In a weird way.

It might be the way the IK bones are configured. Those are always a little tricky.

Wait, I figured out why it was like that. I put in the wrong bone names. Now it's working. Now all I need areΒ some a, e, i, o, and u face morphs. You know, the ones that other mmd characters have.

Good, I'm glad you figured out.
Do you know how to save posed models as a new model? Using Mario's face bones, you can easily create new mouth poses and then load the posed models as a morph.

How do you save morphs? I'm curious to test it out.

Have you finished your Mario model rerig yet? I would love to try it. Don't worry though, I just want it for a couple of motions that dont even need the legs If he is finished, I would love to try him.

In PMX editor, in the Transform Window, pose Mario's face the way you want. Once you're satisfied with the pose, click "File" at the top and then "Save Model." Once the model is saved, create a Vertex Morph and then under "File" select "Open." Open the posed Mario you just saved and the un-posed Mario should load it as a morph. Then you can click "Create."

Hmmmm, I really like this model! But when I tried to load in motion data I made before, it never gets added. It just stays in the T-Pose and moves forward or something, Luigi does the same thing xD

SAB64 In reply to Jigglyking20 [2016-11-30 02:39:26 +0000 UTC]
A lot of my models aren't compatible with any pre-made animations since they use their original rigging from their respective games.

Ooooh I see! XD Thank you anyways, and I've also noticed about the mouth, how I have to use the arrows to move it xD is that how it's suppose to work?
π: 0 β©: 1
SAB64 In reply to Jigglyking20 [2016-11-30 03:56:47 +0000 UTC]
In most games, the characters' mouths are controlled using bones to allow for more intricate animation. The mouth morphs work fine for some characters, but characters like Mario and Sonic tend to do better with more intricate mouth movements, when possible.
