Description Repairs in the Key of 0g

Weekly Challenge : Engineering Gals!

Sushi works in the vast cargo bay of a frieghter, repairing control conduits.

Pencil, in the sketchbook just this week, and I find myself much tempted to develop it further, I had so much fun working on the pose and the air and surrounds. I found capturing zero gee a challnge, lets hope I pulled it off!

Inverting the character truly 'sells' the idea of zero-G without giving the impression it's all done with wires or green-screen camera trickery. This angle suggests that you are looking 'up' at the underside of a ship's power plant or drive assembly.

Placing the tools and parts helps to really focus the piece - you can't help but follow the attention of the tech as she works... and the topic of the drawing is appealing, too. Traveller is about a lot more than spacecraft battles and mercenary operations: it's often more about the day-to-day lives of people who happen to hop start systems for a career.

As soon as I saw this, I envisaged my retro space-girl character in a similar situation. As Nuclear-Fridge says, it sells the idea of zero-G immediately. I therefore intend to *chooses words carefully* be heavily influenced by this at some point in the future.
