This is probably my favorite sketch in regards to the red-tailed hawk. I also got to see a wild male of the species very close when he was in my yard about two years ago. He was foraging for rodents and he never was bothered by my presence. I made sure to keep a safe distance from him, but he allowed me to get within ten feet of him without him feeling uncomfortable. It was a magical encounter I will never forget.
