Fun Fact: There used to be a bear that lived in North Africa and it was called the Atlas bear. It existed until its forest home was destroyed and turned to desert (perhaps into the Sahara Desert we know today) and it was overhunted by the Roman Empire for gladiator games. There's a cryptid in Africa that some people talk about, that being called the Nandi bear (though it would turn out to be hyenas skulking about).
