there used to be way less cats in Bucharest before.. and they used to stay hidden 'till night came. Now that they took all the stray dogs we get to see kitties go out in daytime as well, being more sociable
It's not at all something i'm used to seeing around here

Yea.. poor doggos
Many people adopted the stray dogs from their areas and many of them have been adopted by other countries too

Yes that's a disgruntled look he is making.
But something else I see that is very cool is the portrait of the man is making a profile view with his shadow.
So with his mean look and his portrait and profile views, I think he very well may be a criminal, haha. Just ask the catΒ Β Β Β

I believe he was aware of me taking pictures of him so he wanted to strike a pose
I liked the shadow too and his outfit , maybe he's a trained sniper

A fine example of candid photography, Sabina, and I see why you named the cat Felix. I like your little tale as well.

it was your duty to take that shot. The expression in the face of the man fits perfectly to the scene. Good choice to turn the smart-shot into black and white Β

I am as sincere as rain. It's very good. His shadow in a nice bonus hook too. It's classic.
I don't think there isn't much artistically that you couldn't do and do quite well.

So sweet! Thank you !
I wanted to send it to you first and ask you if i should upload it or not
I'm not at all confident in my photo skills especially on a phone with zoom haha !
I decided to upload it though after adding the b&w , it looked more interesting

Anytime. I would be more than happy to advise you but honestly you don't need it. You've great instincts and the talent to back them up.
Which phone do you have? If I zoom mine the image breaks apart. Yours seems to have held together quite well.

thank you so much for the support ! I actually checked your works and edited my b&w image trying to keep some of the highlights you use ( i had to isolate the guy and add more light to his shirt ) so you and your work have helped me

Aww...so sweet. Thx for looking
I think you did well...the tonal scale across the board is where it should be. A Photography professor taught me years ago when film was king and darkrooms were our world. She said the highlights of a B&W photograph should not be whiter than the paper white used to print the photo and should have some sense of detail in them so they are not "washed out" and the darkest black tones should be maxed out to a point where there is no detail to be seen. And your photo has covered all those bases perfectly. Cropping/Isolating is an integral part of good photography. When possible we should try to do our cropping in-camera but there are situations where there isn't time to do so (like your shot here) and so later is better than never.
If you would like to understand camera exposure better I'd recommend Ansel Adams, "The Negative"
Although it was written about film...there was no digital at the time he wrote it...it certainly can be applied to digital work.

The car is a bit too white imo but i totally forgot about it...
I liked that it forms a diagonal of elements both ways( totally lucky it happened,of course). I wanted to edit the mirror of my car out but somehow it looked unbalanced without that black part..
Thank you so much for the recommendations! It should help with my inking too
I will remember the cropping thing as well , I recently had the chance to get a nice camera for a tiny price , a Canon 50D with a Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC HSM lens and i still didn't get to use it ( i should study it a bit before though ..)
Thank you for the link as well !

There is one hot spot on it. Not distracting at all because the eye is lead to your main subject...the expressive dude sitting curbside for a meal.
Great point and proper decision to leave the mirror and pretty much everything as is. It does create a line to follow into the photo.
All of it shows that you can compose rapidly under fire...a good thing to have in your bag of tricks. Especially for Street Photography where the moment changes on the dime. Here and then gone forever.
I really like that you are your own worst critic...I share that trait with you. It's how we can grow and progress artistically.
That Canon 50D is fine piece of gear. It has withstood the test of time. It's a performer and you should get to know it better
I sent a link for the used 5 dollar copy. But if you wantΒ the 50 dollar new one, that's available too

I'm so sorry for the late reply !
Thank you so much for the detailed comment , it makes me wanna go and take more pictures I mean i was lucky with this one, to be honest, but it would be nice if i could find my own good "spots" ..
I should start reading about the Canon I'm glad you say it's a good body , I pretty much got it for the price deal
