Once upon a time there was a strange young girl named Emilie who was fourteen when she fell in love. He was a man of much wealth and he was very handsome, he was nine and twenty at the time our story starts. Had he chosen to marry her, it would have been quite scandalous: for she was dirt poor and in the charge of a witch. In the day, men and women would scorn the witch and Emilie, yet in the dead of night they all came to the witch, separately of course, to commission spells. The spells varied: they came for love potions, potions for warts, potions for hair growth, beauty serums, growth spurts, weight loss, for the sickly, for the deathly ill; they came for it all. But when dawn broke, even though the witch’s potions always worked, they continued to scorn and shun them. But Emilie did not care: she loved him, though he did not know her.
Then one day, a miracle occurred: the man noticed Emilie for the first time and invited her and her guardian to stay with him out of the goodness of his heart. The witch, who loved money more than anything, was delighted and agreed that Emilie should stay with him. Unknown to either the man or Emilie, the witch had concocted a love potion and had been slipping it into the man's drink each and every morning so that gradually He fell in love with Emilie and one day, proposed to her. Emilie happily accepted and they were wed.
On their wedding night, the cruel witch slipped into the newlyweds' bedroom and stabbed Emilie's beloved right in front of her. The witch knowing that once the man was dead, Emilie would inherit his fortune and planned that Emilie in her distraught would surrender her riches to the witch. Emilie struck with horror at her guardian's deed, begged her to bring her beloved back to life. The witch says nothing. Emilie in her state, stabs her guardian with a dinner knife and screams for a spell to bring her love back. The witch only smiled, and said in her dying breath “Only true love can bring him back from the grave. Your love is adorable, but not pure enough for such a spell, and will be both your undoing.”
After her love and her guardian were buried, during her mourning period Emilie happens upon a spell book in the witch's house that was filled with dark spells, among them a spell to bring back a loved one. The spell is meant to work only if the love for the deceased was true all one had to do was to brew a potion and for two years to the day of the deceased's death drink the potion every day precisely at sunset. On the evening marking two years of the deceased's death, one had to journey to the deceased's grave site and carve out their own heart which they had been filling with an elixir for life for two whole years, and place into the chest of the deceased. If their love was pure and true, the deceased will rise again--if not, both will perish.
Emilie followed the spell's instruction to the letter and on a stormy night marking two years since her beloved's death, Emilie dug up his body, carved out her own heart and placed it into her love's chest. To Emilie it was only right, for her heart had always been his.

Whelp they finally have a story! This was inspired from suggestions made by other people, my pride is a little sad to admit but I'm so glad at last they have a story! This was an engagement portrait of them.
