Puuuuuuuuuuuuuunch-Out!! [link]Edit: Blast it! Mac's was from the Bronx! Disco Kid was from Brooklyn..... Fuu! *fixed*
Playing new said game on Wii made my biceps turn to pudding/hurting like no tomorrow.
ARTIST COMPLAINTS:
Thumbnail version looks like puke.
I've actually done some PO doodles a few years back.
Obviously I had to reference the box artwork to do this. Aimed to go wild with the penciling and apply some elements I learned from drawing Strikers style, but eh....I'm not all that content with the results. -_-; The expression was neat though. X]
I took a different approach in coloring this. (via reverse lineart) I cut down on the color opacity, but Mac was naturally this faintly colored.
...
Wow...this pic ended up being a more worked piece than I planned to. It was just going to be a pencil drawing with some pale coloring. XP Now it's got a gritty back image, a faint ring and Batman text.
Lineart: I'm proud of the body.
Shading & Color: ~1hr & 40 mins.

Now that's awesome, nostalgia effect is a bonus because this made me think of the rearranged music for the new Punch-Out. How is the new one?

Looks pretty good! I guess the chest is a little...curvy, but not too much really. Great that ya like the game, I never played the original myself, so it wouldn't be quite as nostalgic for me(plus I can't really afford it right now anyway)..

It's okay, some styles still allow for that even on males, and Punch Out IS kind of along that curvy/cartoony look anyway, so... No prob..

Hmm...never heard of this game. I haven't set my sights on any games lately. The only game I'm adding to my collection will be a Playstation 3 exclusive: Ratchet & Clank Future 3: A Crack in Time. It hits shelves Fall 2009. I just finish watching the trailer. It does look interesting though. As you said in the AC; it must be a hell of a workout. non-the-less, you sure do like some unique stuff. I don't see or hear (read for that matter) anything about it. I'll do some research on this title. As for me, I'm going back to watching season 9 of DBZ which I finally got right on the day of release. I just wanna cry tears of joy, because I'm so happy.

Lately there hasn't been games being released that I have been anticipating as well...until last week. X)
Well, FYI, the Punch-Out!! series first began as an arcade game, but I remember it when it came onto the NES system way back then. It had only one true sequel on SNES. 15 years later since then (present) this game came out as a "remake" of the previous ones, and what's making this very appealing is that it holds true to the originals by keeping the charm it always had. Each boxer has unique personalities and ethnicity and well, just watching them alone is humorous. XD;;
Have fun watching your episodes, Todd. ;]

I'd watch it now, but I'm not at home. i was earlier. Been out for three houres now. I'm in an internet cafe and my debit card has allowed me to stay on until I'm done. Eh, it's nice outside so i think i,ll head out. But first, i'll read more about this game. Sounds...interesting.
They barely remake titles now a days. Only ones i've seen were the mario games ported to the GBA. The conversion of Sonic 1 (original) to the GBa was so pathetic. It sored so low and the gameplay sucked. The music remixes were horrible. A game like that should have been ported to the PSP for that matter.

If your feeling worn out, you can switch to the NES style controls. Works just as great. Infact, I actually got the game just earlier today, and I already finished Great Tiger. TKO'd that mofo with one second left in the first round.
Great work on the illustration. Name says it all.

Great Tiger was the first nuisance who made me lose and forced me to do countless practices, 'cause he was screwing up my career score. XD;;
Wait until you're done with the championship rounds and do the following match. Don't be surprised by the possible negative outcome. It certainly made me ashamed. >___<;
Anyway, thanks.

Hee. I bought this game last night, in hopes for some good ol' nostalgia ( though I haven't been able to play as of yet, thanks to the wonderful idea I had of buying 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine' for my husband's birthday gift. ); glad to hear another person is thinking the same.
I love the colouring method you used for this piece, and the background. I've never gave second thought to the reverse lineart tool, though now I wonder if I should...
The opacity for the skin looks awesome as well.
Fav.

Most definitely, some of the different animations they have on how you defeat them, as well as how they act in between rounds really pulls the player into the game. Only thing is I'd like to know what some of them are saying in their language; I guess I'll just have to learn Indian to know what the Great Tiger is saying..

saiiko In reply to Lohlite [2009-05-23 23:49:53 +0000 UTC]
Agreed, and FYI, People on GameFaqs.com intend to put together a translation guide for the boxers. ;] The only other non-English person I fully understood is Von Kaiser. Occasionally, Piston Honda too b/c I hear Japanese quite often. X]

saiiko In reply to Lohlite [2009-05-24 00:29:43 +0000 UTC]
Lol yeah, me too, and then I go retorting back to them like "I'm not a ROOKIE D:<" @ Great Tiger after getting knocked down, because what he says just APPEARS to sound like "Joo a rookie doodle!" even though he's saying something in Hindi.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Lohlite In reply to saiiko [2009-05-24 01:21:58 +0000 UTC]
Hindi, that was it *said Indian cause couldn't remember the language and too lazy to google*.
I think the Great Tiger was the toughest opponent, for me anyway. I beat Sandman with less attempts than him. *faints*
A jood a rookie doodle? It does sound like that, heh heh... Though, I think the Bald Bull's taunt stuck in my mind the most, with his pretending to be a turkey and saying that one word over and over.
