SaiogaMan In reply to Irichimaru [2010-02-06 04:21:26 +0000 UTC]

Hi Irichimaru, sorry for long waited answer
I forget what is the best tutorial for it, because I found so many good skin tutorial in google when I tried to learn skin texturing and rendering, couple years ago.
maybe you can go to zbrushcentral or cgtalk, so many great tutorial about skin texturing there.

Just for tips, I use Zbrush with zapplink and photoshop for texturing skin.
I use the huge resolution photo reference from www.3d.sk
I use 3 kind of maps for the face, there are Diffuse, Normal, and Specular.
I didn't Use SSS effect on the render because I thought that's just a bust, not real human.
I just tweak the material so its looks real and fits good with the lighting.
if you want to learn the setting of vray material, you can go to www.vray-materials.de
so many kind of vray materials there.

thanks.

this all most makes one feel sympathy for him. This is the first real glimpse at him from the Original trilogy other than the end of ROTJ. It was a nice touch to not make his eyes that wierd yellowie red that they gave him in ROTS. I great homage to the original actor. oh and great work!

Here some tips from me for Sculpting a character:
- Imagine or draw your concept, this make you more focused in detail of your character
- Make the base model with nice and smooth poligon, no nGon and reduce the tris and poles.
- Use graphic tablet to sculpt the mesh.
- Use various kind of brush depend of the situation.
- Increase the subdiv one by one based on the details that you make, like subdiv 2-3 for basic shape, subdiv 4-5 for big wrinkle, subdiv 6-7 for little wrinkle, pores, and another small details.
- Use layer feature (found in zbrush 3.0 and above) for detailing. Example, I use different layers for wrinkle, pores, little tweak, and asymetrical detail. Because if I make mistakes or the details looks bad I can simply delete the layer, or change the opacity of layer.

For Tutorials, I recommend you tutorial from gnomon, their tutorial very detailed in technique and tools

thanks

If you could explain a little more of this "layer Feature" (where is it?) and look one of my Zbrush sculpt [link]
will help a looooooooooot (cheack out the wip of colored version, if you want, of course)

thanks a lot for tips, that help me a lot
sorry for the bad english

sorry for long waited answer
the layer feature is in the right toolbar, you can see 'layer' tool there.
your Marine Man Sculpt is good, and scary too Remembered me with the creatures in pirates of carribean 2 movie.
But for my taste it is too symetrycal, all of organic objects are always asymetrical.
Maybe you can add more detail in top of the head and the shoulder too, because there looks empty compare to the face detail.

thanks

KaueDalcin In reply to SaiogaMan [2010-02-10 13:17:53 +0000 UTC]

hmm, thanks for the tips

Do you use just defaut brushes from Zbrush, or you use others too?

thanks for the tips again

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SaiogaMan In reply to KaueDalcin [2010-02-11 06:40:57 +0000 UTC]

I usually use Standard, clay, pinch, move, and smooth brushes
-Standar is for making detail
-Clay for fixing some little hole because of pole or tris, and for making the pores.
-Move: I using this kind of brush to fix the proportion or change the shape of mesh
-Pinch: Use for sharpening the edge
-Smooth Brush, for smoothing the area, or delete the bad details.

No problem Man
