Description
FULL VIEW PLEASE!A new and improved sword compared to the first one I made almost a year ago, this Holy Sword from CLAMP's X is what I used for cosplaying Fuma Monou this year at SUMI Sentenyal: Bihisan ang Tugtugan, a Cosplay-Concert event at our college last September 15. I'm much more proud of showing you this one, now that I did improvements within a span of two weeks ever since I decided to reprise my character at the event. Thanks to , we had the chance of regaining dignity from last year's mishaps however, we didn't win too this year, but I felt much happier with the event this year for some certain reasons...). The whole sword consisted of a wooden stick as base, then mainly of rubber foam for the handle and all sorts of stock materials I have like plastic balls, old newspapers, ropes, etc. I used lots of poster and acrylic paint for the violet part of the handle, and lots of gold dust + varnish for the gold parts. The blade is now painted with spray paint (if you'd compare and notice the smooth finish with the first one) and is made of sturdy illustration board.

Thank you so much Kerstie!!!
This is dedicated to everyone of you who'd view this.

Another question: how did you make the guard and handle?
π: 0 β©: 1
Sakanami In reply to SilavRing [2008-04-20 06:04:50 +0000 UTC]
The guard's generally made of a sheet rubber foam while the handle has a wooden base covered with rope.

Well, making it is quite a secret... Just joking... When I finish doing the patterns and instructions then maybe I'll be posting it here soon. A lot of people sure have been asking me for that too. Thanks again!

Woah, what is this made of? Nice work. Its got a very nice saber/rapier gaurd, but its the size and handle of a two handed sword. Nice.

Thank you so much!!!
It's generally made of rubber foam (the one used for shoe soles, but I bought the one in large sheets), a round wooden stick as its base and illustration board for the blade. It surely is a lot of hard wok and I'm glad it came out the way I wanted it to be, but of course, I'm much happier that you liked it!

dragonfish09 In reply to Sakanami [2007-12-13 02:30:00 +0000 UTC]
So you just carve up the rubber for the hilt and stuff, and then use board for the blade? Wow that sounds like it wouldn't work but it does! it looks very realistic. Thanks for the advice, I just might have to try that, even if it is lots of work.

Sakanami In reply to dragonfish09 [2007-12-13 07:16:18 +0000 UTC]
Oh no, I didn't carve the rubber (that's quite hard! ), I used flat sheets of thin rubber, created patterns and connected them together, forming 3d shapes. It's quite complicated to explain without photos so maybe I'll post an instruction manual here soon as I finish it so you too can do your own sword!
