I was taught right from wrongBy a murderer
I was taught truth from lies
By a magician
I was taught who my friends were
By my enemy
I was taught to be honest
By a professional liar
I was taught to always speak my mind
By being told to keep quiet
I was taught to be kind
By someone that beat me down
I was taught to smile
By someone who could never wipe a scowl of their face
I was taught to love
By being abused
I was taught to live
By someone who was already dead
I was taught to perform
By someone with stage fright
I was taught to be excellent
By someone that failed in everything
I was taught to rely on only my self
By being surrounded with people
I was taught to be perfect
By those that wanted to see me fail
I was taught to be loyal
By everyone that ever walked out of my life
I was taught to make people happy
By everyone who ever made me miserable
I was taught to control my temper
By those with explosive tempers
I was taught to take care of myself
By those who tried to kill me
I was taught what matters to me
By those that took it all away
I was taught how to be a girly girl
By a bunch of boys
I was taught how bad modern medicine can be
By a drug addict
I was taught who deserved my heart
By having my rib cage shattered
I was taught to stand center stage
By having my shoulders disjointed
I was taught not everyone is as nice as they seem
By having my wrist taken out
I was taught how far people are willing to go
By seeing him dying
This may not makes sense to everyone
But to those it does
They know, just like me
Betrayal is the best teacher
And, what doesn't kill you defines you

Good for you, taking in all the world has handed you... and coming out a winner. Thanks for writing and posting this because it's legit. To everyone who reads this, it will spark different memories and pains, but the emotions will all be felt on equal grounds. Everyone will have their own sort of understanding, and that's a powerful accomplishment all its own.

And ultimately, thank you for surviving misery and becoming someone worthwhile. Because we've all been there. We've all loathed and hated and despaired... but it takes someone truly special to walk away and still be able to put on a smile.

I hope you manage to mkae it to that goal... remember to always be strong...and people that support you are the only ones that matter...and thank you for all the encouragement...I do hope that people are able to relate...not only because they have felt intense pain but because they have been in a situation or no someone that this could relate to...I don't want people to hurt but I want my poetry to be understand...and alsmot everyone has gone through something that has caused them pain

When reading...i realised what it was really about...and its true....i've been stabbed in the back by people i've called friends...which made me love the few true ones even more.......
Narrow minded bigots gave me the strength to be myself^^
When someone beat me down, i didnt want anyone to experience pain like that.....including the person trying to beat me...... there is so much i never realised until i saw this....thank you for writing this
