Description Of a fairy tale. Based loosely on one of *creatyves' photos. First Contact, I think it was called. He is a brilliant photographer.... apologies to him for indirectly mutilating it.

Hell, this must've taken over two hours... What! I just took a GCSE tech exam today, I need therapy! Preferably in the form of art as opposed to some psychiatrist. I tried that no-smudging thing and it was much more difficult and time-consuming than I thought it would be. Never again! I will smudge my work if I want to, so hah, you elitist non-smudgers.....

If you look at the original, I've left the bloke on the left fairly similar, but changed the figure on the right quite a lot... effeminated him, for a start. Funny, isn't it, how women are so much easier to draw than men. It's like poetry, damnit!

If you flipped the drawing vertically, it was supposed to show a heart, in a shoddy attempt symbolism and stuff. Problem being that the guy's legs are so much longer than the girl's... so it's a very lopsided heart. But oh well. On A-4 paper as usual, and shall continue to be until I can nick more A-3 from the school's art department.

Haha! Thanks a lot. Please don't feel obliged to go comment on my stuff, I'm glad enough if you see it and like it...

There's quite a lot that's off with this piece. The girl's chin, and the bench leg.... unfortunately, you don't notice these things till afterwards. So yeah...

i'm all for smudging, but i must admit it's sad to see some of the detail lost in smudging, and everything is very clear in this picture. you do a great shot of shading, even without smudging. the symmetry is nice too, even if it's a little off with his legs. better than him having little boy legs which generally happens to me in my drawings of people. overall, i'm upset that every cursed thig you do is so awesome!

I've darkened the contrast too on some of my pieces. My ethic's if you get the result you want, how you get there doesn't matter... Just in art, o' course. Either way, that poster came out awesomely, which is what matters. I really loved it.

as one of those "elitest non-smudgers" i have to say i really like this drawing and even more so because of the fact there is no smudging (well i would wouldn't i?) In particular i like the texture of the clothes in the drawing, the contrast between the light and dark picks up the 3d-ness (for want of a better word) of the material.

I love you elitist non-smudgers really. I have to agree that the smudging things makes them wishy-washy and lowers the contrast, but it's so much quicker and requires less effort if you want to do anything more elegant than a quick sketch. Thanks for your kind words and the stalk.

you should pretend that the lopsidedness of the symbolic hear represents the slanted perspective people have in the modern world of young romance.

I might do that. Thanks.

You should've done an art GCSE. It basically relies on you being able to make lots of dubious connections between your work and the artists'.

Being persuasive doesn't take time or effort, it takes practice and skill. Which probably is time and effort, but sod that.... You may as well be, with all the 'niggling little comments' you're leaving.
