This is a basic tutorial for those who want to start sewing their own costumes.
This is for when you want to do a slash on a skirt or dress.

1-When you start sewing on a machine, the big part of the fabric should always be turned to the left (except in some cases) and you should hold the thread on the right;
2 - The part that is going to be sewn together should be shorter then the ones for the slash. Sew them with a straight stitch;
3 - To be sure that the fabric stays with a clean cut, (if you don't have an overlock machine) do a zig-zag stich, right on the edge (1cm);
4 - Do a small perpendicular cut, right where the straight stitch ends;
5 - Bend the fabric twice, and secure it with pins or with cotton thread.
