Loneliness shares our everyday lives. We lose ourselves. It isolates us from the world, our mind drifts away and we lose track of our thoughts. Loneliness is like an insatiable thirst, as if your mouth is devoid from all moisture let alone water. Loneliness shuts us in a dark room, our hands reach for something to grab, something to cling to, something to lighten our world, but our hands do not feel anything.Loneliness is the burning tears running down our cheeks; we wonder where did they come from, but we remain contemplating. Loneliness is the cold wind that blows through our lives. Loneliness is a beast – silent, lurking, vicious – that preys on our soul; it waits for an opening, strikes in a split second and leaves a scar that never quite disappears. It is a plague. None are spared and unlike other nightmares, waking up will not chase it away. We sob and we mourn and we cry; then we struggle and fight and try, again and again but we are helpless. It leaves us no rest in our unrest. Loneliness turns our memories nostalgic, our lives bitter and our dreams hopeless. Loneliness reminds us all how fragile we are.
