For the rest of the morning, the twins kept bothering you in not so subtle ways, such as bumping into your arm when you wrote in your notebooks and volunteering you when the teacher needed someone to read a section of the manual or answer a question. Not once did they even glance at you or say a word to you. It was very likely they could already imagine how annoyed you were with them. It was a bit odd though as it seemed like Kaoru was taking the charge on this one. Usually it would be Hikaru leading the way. ‘Just some extra salt to the wound,’ you groaned mentally. Why couldn’t your feelings for Kaoru just go away?

You did get a break during lunch when you went to the cafeteria with your old classmates. Luckily, the twins weren’t having lunch there today. They were serving your favorite dish today. After ordering and picking up your tray, you sat down with your friends.

“Are you still fighting with Hikaru and Kaoru?” one asked.

“Looks like it,” you sighed. “I was hoping they’d be over it once I got back.”

“What happened between you three anyway? You used to be all so close. I was even sure you had a crush on one of them,” another said.

“Uh, I’d rather not get into it. What’s done is done,” you sighed again. It’s only been half a day and you were already done with whatever the twins were up to. You hadn’t realized how much you were showing your emotions when you noticed your friends were looking at you with what seemed like pity in their eyes.

“I know! How about we take you to the Host Club after school?”

“Host Club?” you asked.

“It was formed last year. It’s so much fun! It’ll be a great way to get your mind off of everything.” All of your friends began chiming in with how wonderful this elusive “Host Club” is.

“The twins are there, but we can request another host. Haruhi, the honour student in our class, is so charming!”

“If you guys think it’ll be fun; I’m willing to try.” The girls cheered and continued to explain to you what the Host Club is until the end of lunch. Sure the twins are hosts, but you guys wouldn’t be seeing them and they’ll be busy “hosting” so nothing wrong could happen. There’s no way they could bother you there. You wouldn’t even need to look at them.

During lunch, the twins stayed back with Haruhi and they all ate together in the classroom. Haruhi had definitely been picking up on the twins’ odd behaviour towards you. She was very well acquainted with their mischievousness, but she had never seen them be so harsh towards someone they just met. There was definitely a piece she was missing to this puzzle.

“Who’s the new girl in our class?” she asked casually. “It looks like you guys have it out for her.” The twins looked at each other then to Haruhi.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about. We just thought she looked like someone who could answer those questions,” they said in unison.

“That’s not true, and you both know it,” Haruhi said impatiently. What was going on in their heads?

“Can’t you guys at least tell me who she is?”

“Well, I think the teacher said her name is (f/n) (l/n) and that she has been studying abroad for two years,” Kaoru said. Haruhi rolled her eyes. She was getting no where with this. She packed the rest of her lunch and began to stand up.

“I need to go to the library to drop off a book. See you guys after class,” she said before making her leave.

The moment your teacher had class dismissed for the day, your friends dragged you immediately to music room 3. ‘This host club must be a big deal,’ you thought to yourself as you waited patiently with your friends in the surprisingly long line of female students. ‘How the heck did Hikaru and Kaoru get tied up in something so… social?’ You had noticed that the twins had become more open since you last saw them. They spoke to their classmates in between classes, they didn’t seem harsh to anyone (except for you), and now this. You felt disappointed that you couldn’t be part of the twins’ growth. ‘Maybe it was better that I left them,’ you pondered.

The door to the Host Club finally opened up and rose petals fluttered in the air. The sweet fragrance of tea and flowers filled your nose as you stepped into the ornate room.

“Welcome!” the seven hosts greeted together. You recognized the twins and Haruhi, the other four you could guess based on the description you got from your friends during lunch. The boy with dark hair and glasses, the one you assumed to be Kyoya Ohtori, walked up to you and your friends with his clipboard in hand.

“Good afternoon ladies. I see you brought a new guest with you. I am Kyoya Ohtori, it’s a pleasure to meet you. You are (f/n) (l/n), correct?”

“… Yes?” you answered. How did this guy know who you are? He isn’t even in the same grade as you. Your friends said he was smart, but they didn’t say he was creepy know-everything-about-everyone smart.

“We’d like to request Haruhi today, Kyoya-sempai,” one of your friends spoke cheerfully.

“As you wish, ladies.” You were soon ushered to a round table near one of the large windows. Haruhi was already there waiting and greeted you with a smile so sweet you could have gotten cavities. You noticed there was something very feminine to Haruhi, but you chose not to think to hard about it.

“Hi girls, it’s nice to see you again.” All of you friends gave dreamy ‘hello’s and took their seats. You sat across from Haruhi. Behind him you could see another table of girls. Who were these girls sitting with? None other than the infamous Hitachiin twins. Great. You tried your best to focus on Haruhi and your friends, but that was going to be very hard.

Especially when the twins made eye contact with you and made their signature smirk. The smirk that meant they were up to no good.
