Summary: A small drabble for the Weekly Drabble Challenge! 8/26/18 The prompt was Thoughtful. There will be a new challenge prompt on Sunday.
Twelve p.m... Mikey sat near the TV trying to concentrate on the game at hand as his older red mask brother was wiping the floor with him. However, in the background he could hear the eldest wielding his sword with a steady motion, repeating the same technique over and over again.
Two p.m... The orange mask turtle relaxed in his bean bag chair, pulling out his worn-out guitar, taking a pick and started to play something simple then slowly build it up. The strings at first not flowing the way he wanted them to be, he tightened them and tried again finding the tune they played was amazing to his ears. However, in the background he could hear the eldest breathing heavily practicing kicking and defending against a dummy with precise precision, not getting hit back as he dance around it, doing so without a hint of getting bored or stopping at that.
Four p.m... He was on fire! Mikey circled around the kitchen as a pro, gathering this and that, an herb, a spice or two, tossing them into a bowl. He flipped his wooden spoon between his two thick fingers, jamming to some tunes he played on the cassette player that was on top of the fridge. However, in the background he could hear the eldest growling, as the negative energy flowing into his happy place, once again Leo and Raph were fighting.
Seven p.m... Mikey dashed towards the entrance of the lair that led to the sewers with his skateboard in hand. After a long day so far he was ready for some tricks before it got too late and he was dragged to do patrolling. There was a playful smile on his lips, knowing where a perfect spot would be to get his groove on. However, in the background he couldn't hear the eldest, as there was silence in the Dojo accompanied by a soft glow for light, Leo was meditating by himself, like normal.
Seven p.m. a second more... Mikey reached the door, then froze, staring at the metal surface. He reflected back a week ago when he confronted Leo over how he thought his brother needed a hobby. Leo rejected the idea immediately stating he had no time for such rubbish. With training how could he, Leo had to point out. When Mikey dared to say how about the fact Leo needed some 'Me Time'... His response was that is what meditation is for, though Mikey wasn't sold by that, knowing Leo needed something outside of training, yet his brother didn't see it that way. With a sigh, Mikey opened the door and exited the lair. However, in the background he couldn't hear the eldest stepping out and watching him leave in dismay.
Ten p.m... Leo stood there tall and proud how his brothers handle themselves on the patrol. It surprisingly went smoothly and not one had gotten hurt or discovered. Watching the last brother head their separate ways, mainly to bed, he went that direction too. However, in the background he could hear the youngest shuffling his feet elsewhere, was something bothering him of late?
Ten p.m. and a minute more... He reached his room entering its gloom, turning on some lights. There was something out of place as his eyes set upon a small gift bag that was placed on his bed. He reached over to look inside and knew what was bothering his little brother. Sitting down, he pondered in his own silence. However, in the background he could hear the youngest dragging his feet when passing his room in a march of depression.
Six a.m... A new day had come and Mikey's eyes open wide not really in the mood to see the same routine unfold yet again. He sat up with his hand on his face, contemplating whether or not he should go back to bed. Suddenly he noticed an object in the corner of his eye that wasn't there before. He leaned over to pick up the envelope that at first, he wasn't certain how it got there. However, in the background he could hear the eldest sneaking away.
Six a.m. and a minute more... To his surprise, the letter was in calligraphy and it said, “Thank you for the thoughtful gift, I forgot how much I love doing calligraphy when we were younger. I was wrong, maybe I do have some time to spare to work on this at least.” Mikey smiled then jump out of bed, so his brother found a hobby after all. However, in the background he could hear the eldest working away as usual, keeping his secret only between them.
