In SMB3 when you complete a numbered world (World 1-1, 1-2, 1-3, etc.), the number gets replaced with an M or and L and you can't reenter it. Well, what if you could? And instead of being replaced with an M or L, the flag by the number simply changes from blue to white after you complete it?
