Interesting that the camera seems to be turning around the character. ^^

oh, its just the first setup.. next one the lights and camera will be static and the character will be rotating.. then ill do one with only rotating light.. then zooming in and zooming out.. possibilities are endless..

They are indeed! Are you using VRay RT to speed up things? I have tried it myself, but the whole scene must fit into your video card's memory, and only simple materials are supported.

no, i never got RT to work properly on my system.. its just still way to buggy...

I only got simple materials to work with it because it doesn't use the same renderer as VRay, and again, the whole scene has to fit into the video card RAM. Sounds too limited, doesn't it?

yeah it does sound limited.. i saw on youtube a couple of vids where people got really impressive results with it tho.. but like i said, i just cant get RT to work correctly on my machine.. its slow and very buggy on my system.. its more annoying then helpful..

I saw some too, and I suspect those MUST use simple materials to work with Vray RT, or else it won't fit into the video RAM. But in my experiments, the speed gains were amazing - considering all renders are unbiased (100% raytraced). If it didn't work with you, it must be because your scene was using incompatible materials, incompatible lights, or was too big to fit inside your video card's memory. Those are some of the most common causes for it to fail starting. ^^

what is it you mean with "simple materials".. are those like not vray materials, so like a 3ds max standard materials ? or do you mean more like a shader with for example, a noise shader mixed with a, lets say a, texture in a composite modifier applied to a vray shader diffuse node..
the whole RT thing did work for, but it is just slow, and it slows down the all the viewports that are open too, which makes the workflow when you are modeling things really annoying...

They are still VRay materials, but they have to remain quite simplistic, like simple colors or plain bitmap textures. Can't go fancy with shader nodes, and all lights must be physically accurate because Vray RT can only use brute force raytracing (it's not the same renderer). Anything beyond this and RT will crash on starting.
Depending on what video card you have, the number of streaming processor it packs, and the amount of video RAM, the RT view port will be quite fast. With my GeForce GTX470, it can do in 4 mins what would normally take VRay like hours to render. And since this is unbiased rendering, the render itself will never end - you have to stop it when you think the quality is good enough. Depending on the settings, that can happen in a matter of 5-10 minutes.
Depending on your video card, RT can really produce decent results in record times. But only if your video card features enough streaming processors and video RAM.

hehe.. yeah, then this whole RT thing wont work for me anyways.. i like complicated shaders.. no simple stuff for me

I have a similar problem with lighting in RT. Like half of irradiance params become locked when we shift to RT, so I can't control the scene lighting the way I want.
