Starting out, I didn't have much idea for the Chimchar's character beyond what seems obvious for a monkey with its butt on fire, but as I was drawing this it became more clear to me. As a result I think I also drew him oddly here, because I was over-thinking things. Or you know, a monkey seems relatively easy to draw because they are so human-like, but then there's the risk of making it TOO human. And then I looked up some reference pictures of actual monkeys but to keep things somewhat consistent I couldn't make it too realistic.

I think overall the page turned out cool, though. At first I had imagined this scene in a more comedic manner, but then it turned more towards drama. Of course, the line between drama and comedy can be rather precarious.
