Description
God I am so behind on this tutorial stuff...Anyways this is page one of the Skeletal study. Now I think for most artists it is important to understand the basic makeup of the human form. Understanding how the peices fit and work can only further aid in giving your characters in making them more realistic. So arms aren't looking like they are made of noodles or that the character is spineless (with the exception of contortionists....those fols are eerrily bendable).
So in this particular page I want to introduce you to the basic make up of the human skeleton. Here you get a back and side veiw. Notice the natural angle of the spine and how complex the spinal cord it. Also note the ribs!!! There are eleven ribs and notice that they are not perfectly round! There are also two floater ribs (the last two set of ribs).
The ribs and spine are very very important. They are what shape the upper and lower torso, along with several layers of muscle. Bones are the best way to plot poses with, even using simple lines. But I'll cover that later. For now I hope this may help some of you out and help you to better understand the basic skeletal layout.
More coming soon

So, when you draw a person, do you actually draw the bones in first? Or is it more of an awareness of where they should be?
