Bear: A complicated friend to Ryder. Often bickering when they're around each other. Ryder is generally the one who starts the arguments. Ryder says the only reason he hangs out with Bear is because Tucker is friends with him. Because Tucker is friends with Bear, Ryder has to hang out with him if he wants to hang out with Tucker. Ryder thinks Bear is annoying by how overly optimistic he is and believes his entire personality is a façade. No one could possibly be that nice, right? He believes his kindness is fake and is constantly trying to bring out the worst in him. As much as he finds Bear annoying, he'd probably miss arguing with him all the time if he wasn't around. Bear is the only one of his friends who will entertain his arguing. Ryder would argue with Tucker for fun, but most times it just ends with him making Tucker cry on accident. Ryder also loves Bear's food. Bear tries to win Ryder's friendship by cooking for him a lot. It's probably the only time where Ryder isn't bickering with him. Aside from that, Bear and Ryder's friendship doesn't go any further as of now.
Tucker: Ryder's longtime best friend. Has known each other since they were kids. They both know each other better than anyone else. Ryder is a lot more patient with Tucker than he is with other people because of his schizophrenia and knows that he can't help it. Because they were dorm-mates throughout school, Ryder knows the severity of his mental illness. Though helping Tucker through his troubles over the years has left him emotionally exhausted, he still cares for him. Tucker was there for Ryder when he had no one. Tucker listened to him when no one else would. Tucker is the only one Ryder has ever been emotionally vulnerable to. Though they have conflicting beliefs and being around each other so much has created irritability between them every once in a while, it would take A LOT to ever split them apart.
Liz: Barely knows her but knows that she doesn't like him. Liz doesn't like Ryder because of how he has treated Bear. She also doesn't like how irresponsible he is. She doesn't like how he always has to question everything and doesn't accept reality as it is. She just dislikes him overall. Conflicting personalities.
