Did you know that both "The Lion King" AND "Oliver and Company" ALMOST shared a director? George Scribner, the director of "Oliver" was initially set to direct "Lion King" when it was called "King of the Jungle". He planned for it to be a non-musical, National Geographic special-style movie. However, he ultimately left the project with Roger Allers and Rob Minkoff taking over and turning into the epic musical drama we know today.
