I must say that, in my opinion, this is one of the few ways that photography can be artistic. So many "artistic: photos are pretty much just a picture of something and nothing else. This, however, is quite nice.

The waves (which I learned are waves from the comments) are very eery, and the rest of the surroundings are pretty interesting as well. It looks like the anchor is floating in the sky above a city, which is a very cool effect.

All in all, I very much like this picture. Keep up the good work. ^_^

Beautiful shot, but you already got that. Question .. Am I seeing wood or are those rock formations ? It has a look like burnt wood which I like. Plus the whole contrast of the weathered wood and anchor, with the would having a structured rigid shape and the anchor curvilinear gives an intellectual twist.

JakeSpain [2010-07-27 18:54:29 +0000 UTC]

Stunning shot Steve. Very unusual. You really did well with the height of the tide not to cover the anchor at all during the exposure. I would never have considered a 10 stop for this and would have probably taken a much simpler (technically) shot myself which would not have been so good.....

The anchor is very nicely posed for you on the rocks,
which have an excellent crystaline texture too!
Do you need long exposure noise-reduction or is ISO 100 good for 9mins?

thats the one, im going from memory though it might not even be that ship i need to check the map i have....
i thinki it was on butr the 5d mk 2 is excellent for long exposures....

The filter is remarkably uniform in its density - which brand?
