Story (235 WC)

Day Three of the trials was christened with a proper deluge in the morning and a proper miserable journey to the stables to prepare for Clancy's Ride. Magnus worked to tack Escalade up, silently cursing to himself on how the third day of cold and rainy weather was making his joints ache. The warmblood was less phased, having found some joy in all of the water the trials had brought. He carefully walked her out of the guest barn and vaulted onto her back before walking to where the start of the ride was.

Armed with the knowledge that the storm had made some parts of the ride a tad precarious, Magnus chose to err on the side of caution and kept Escalade at a sensible pace. The mare romped her way gleefully through the trail, unphased by the mud puddles and downed trees on the journey. Everything was looking up until the mare abruptly halted, moving her head down to inspect something. "What is it?" Magnus asked before looking down, watching Escalade give an interested look at the petrified small creature in her way. The small bit of quollity time wasn't a detrimental delay and after the mare got her good look in, Magnus sent her forwards and across the river. A few strides behind, Eglaf and their rider watched the scene with mild amusement as they did their best to weather the ride.
