Description

"Alright, on you two go." With a soft pat on my rear Lena shooed König and I out of the stables. König whined and whimpered as Lena tried to depart from us. I rolled my eyes. "Kö, we don't have all night, come on." The adolescent dire puffed at me. "I hate the wilds! I don't know why I have to go and the stupid Cow doesn't." I began to pace away tilting my head in response. "It's because Zeph is being taken on a exploration trip with Iris this week remember? So you're just gonna have to be stuck with me." I took a snarky glance over my left shoulder. "And from the looks of it, Butterball you need the exercise. When's the last time you've walked 100 meters besides to the feeding pasture and back? The high altitude walk will do you some justice." I could hear a very low snort from behind me but trotted on. 'Eh, he'll thank me later.' I thought. The bulky dire made a fine effort to keep up and did so very well. Once we crossed the large river running at the edge of our territory and reached the summit of the mountain we planned on trekking was when things began to go downhill. The random outward grumble echoed my ears. I glanced towards König and dropped an ear. "Is there something you'd like to tell me?" He nervously crossed his legs before his stomach. "Heheh.... no..." I raised my brows and turned my back to him once again. "I suppose so." I couldn't let minor things distract me from what I had to do. I had to find that annoying twat of a bird. It said it had information to tell me. This was the second time it had come into contact with me. And it was so persistent, that it drove me mad. After a while I noticed the flanking shadow of a large bird over head of me, focusing so intently on it I began to get dizzy, only König's words snapped me from my trance. "Räi...I'm hungry..." My ears flickered. I suppose I couldn't just let the pup be hungry, he had indeed been out here for several hours searching for that stupid bird with me. "Alright, is there something you smell?" His tail drooped. "Actually...no... I was hoping you had. And from what I've seen the last river was 2 miles in the other direction..." He whimpered. I rolled my eyes and sighed. We don't have the time to go back down the mountain and hunt down a bear or elk. "Kid, you sure you're hungry?" King's bashful display of submission said it all. I couldn't help but crack under the pitiful look of the puppy dire. "Alright." I began sniffing the ground until I'd found what peaked my interest. I began to dig roughly through the dirt. King paced around in front of me as I uncovered things under the earth. His face twisted and soiled as I angled my head down. "But...." "King this isn't an option. You must eat. If you do not, you will pass out from the lack of oxygen at this high altitude and exhaustion." I nosed the massive root out of the dirt and placed it before his paws. "Eat."
